CBS has given a green light to a new "Yellowstone" series starring Kayce Dutton, as reported by Variety. Announced back in March, the network has ordered 13 episodes of the series, with filming preparing to kick off this summer. The series is expected to premiere on Sunday evenings during the midseason 2026.

Luke Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce, the youngest of the Dutton family and a former Navy SEAL. In the last development of his character, Kayce had kept a small segment of the Yellowstone Dutton ranch for his family after selling the most part to the Broken Rock Indian Reservation.

The series, currently referred to as "Y: Marshals," follows Kayce after he leaves Yellowstone Ranch and joins a team of U.S. Marshals. Balancing his cowboy skills and Navy SEAL capabilities, he helps implement justice in Montana, while managing family obligations and high-stress conditions that arise from being the region's last line of defense against violence.

Spencer Hudnut will serve as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner of "Y: Marshals." Taylor Sheridan, "Yellowstone's" creative genius, will be an executive producer alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari of 101 Studios. Grimes will not only star in the series but will also function as an executive producer, with "Yellowstone" Executive Producers John Linson and Art Linson producing as well. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach mentioned during an interaction with reporters that the new show will target both streaming and linear platforms. The hope is to replicate the success achieved by previous Taylor Sheridan shows, which have performed exceedingly well both on network broadcast and streaming.

Luke Grimes, known for roles in "American Sniper" and the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series, started his journey as Kayce Dutton with the first season of "Yellowstone." He continued to embody the character throughout the original series' run on the Paramount Network.

The announcement of the Kayce Dutton-centric series is one among many recent announcements made by CBS. Furthermore, other spinoffs set in the "Yellowstone" universe, including a show focusing on Beth and Rip and another starring Michelle Pfeiffer, are already in progress.
