Join the Morgan's for a European Christmas: Review of 'The Family Plan 2'
- Nov 27, 2025
The Family Plan 2, sequel to Apple TV's 2023 movie, transports the audience to the beautifully decorated cities of London and Paris. The film follows the storyline of a former covert assassin turned family man, Dan Morgan, played by Mark Wahlberg, as he takes his family to Europe for a holiday. However, as can be predicted from the first film, the vacation doesn't go as smoothly as the family had anticipated.
Unlike the first movie, Dan's family, already aware of his violent past, are amused by it. His wife Jessica, played by Michelle Monaghan, seems fascinated by his skills, a peculiar character development unexplained in the context of the film. The couple's children, Nina, Kyle, and Max, fully participate in the adventure, adding a comedic undertone.
The film doubles down on the action-comedy drama centered around Wahlberg and Kit Harington's characters' complex relationship. While aimed to be kept as a surprise, the character dynamics between the two forms the emotional backbone of the film's storyline.

The high-octane action scenes, the comedic undertone, and cinematic portrayal of London and Paris bring life to the film. The locations and action sequences are incredibly engaging with Jessica's character being surprisingly exceptional in her combat skills. Adding to the mix is Nina's athletic boyfriend Omar, creating a delightful subplot.
Despite its predictability and some stale gag moments, the film, directed by Simon Cellan Jones, keeps a quick pace and sticks to its tried and tested formula from the first movie. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan showcase incredible on-screen chemistry, making the movie an enjoyable watch. While it's challenging to decipher if The Family Plan 2 is genuinely superior to the predecessor, it guarantees an entertaining movie-going experience that blends holiday spirit with high-paced action.
