The much-loved toy, "My Little Pony", is gearing up for its great leap to the screens in a live-action feature. This venture, helmed by Amazon MGM Studios and Hasbro Entertainment, has been confirmed by Variety. Originating in 1982, the colorful, rainbow-hued ponies have galloped their way through varied animated series and films since the 80s. Their latest telefilm, "My Little Pony: A New Generation", amassed popularity on Netflix, following a thwarted Paramount theatrical release due to the Covid pandemic.

As the pacesetter live-action project for the 43-year-old franchise, the film aims to charm audiences with animals adorned with vibrant neon manes and tails. The project, currently undeveloped, has yet to select its creative team.

The iconic toys, which initially resonated with young girls, found a new fanbase in the 2010 series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". The unexpected followers, composed of teenagers and grown men, have dubbed themselves as "bronies", leveraging their passion to challenge traditional gender norms. As per Hasbro, over a thousand variations of the My Little Pony toys have been marketed. Recently, the brand has been welcomed into the National Toy Hall of Fame.

As part of its strategy, Hasbro has been venturing into developing film and TV series that revolve around its widely recognized brands. Some ongoing projects include reinvigorating the game "Clue" for film and TV with Sony's TriStar and Sony Pictures Television, the live-action Dungeons & Dragons series "Forgotten Realms" underway at Netflix, and animated series "Magic: The Gathering" currently in development also at Netflix. The live-action universe of "Magic: The Gathering" together with Legendary Entertainment and game shows based on Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble have debuted on the CW.
