Grammy nominee Noah Cyrus has expressed her excitement for being part of the upcoming Universal movie, “Reminders of Him”, for which she composed the end credits song - “Light Over the Hill”. This accomplishment marks Cyrus' first track for a film, a personal milestone she had been striving for over the years.

Directed by Vanessa Caswill, "Reminders of Him" chronicles the story of Kenna, played by Maika Monroe. Kenna is a young woman returning to her hometown in Wyoming after serving five years in prison. Kenna tries to reconnect with her estranged daughter Diem, while navigating complex relationships with the townsfolk.

The songwriting process began when Caswill organized a private screening of the film for Cyrus. Cyrus, who had not previously read Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel on which the movie is based, was able to experience and react to the story’s twists in real time. The themes of rebirth and redemption in the film resonated with Cyrus, who incorporated these feelings into her song.

Working closely with co-producer and co-writer, PJ Harding, Cyrus intended to channel the feelings evoked by the film into her music. The song took a folky-bluegrass direction, reflecting the film's themes of light and new beginnings. Cyrus acknowledges the artistic freedom Caswill granted her in crafting the song and aimed to sonically encapsulate the film's setting and ethos.

While Cyrus is no stranger to songwriting, creating music that complements a visual narrative was a unique challenge for her. But this didn't hinder the process, instead her song was met with enthusiastic approval from the filmmakers. This successful collaboration has left Cyrus eager to explore more opportunities in film and TV.

Interestingly, Cyrus' older sister, Miley Cyrus, had also recently penned the end credits song for “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” Despite working on similar projects, Cyrus reveals they didn't consult with each other during their respective songwriting processes and found out about each other's work only later.

With the Los Angeles premiere of "Reminders of Him" coming up next month, Cyrus eagerly anticipates seeing the final cut of the film. According to Cyrus, all involved parties will experience her end credits song within the context of the completed film for the first time during the premiere – an event she is deeply honored to be a part of.
