Stars Rose Byrne and Jenna Ortega are set to feature in a new sports drama titled "Nasty", directed by Mary Bronstein. The film, to be unveiled under Warner Bros.' indie label Clockwork, focuses on an aspiring Olympic gymnast, who realizes her coach is her biggest adversary. The film serves as a reunion for Byrne and Bronstein, after their previous successful venture “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” which landed Byrne an Oscar nomination. Authored by Isabella Jarosz, “Nasty” was listed in the Blacklist of top unproduced scripts, marking her debut script sale.
The production of “Nasty” is scheduled to commence this fall, produced by LuckyChap, known for “Barbie” and “Saltburn,” along with Ortega. Byrne's impressive career includes renowned hits like “Bridesmaids,” “Spy,” “Neighbors,” and Emmy-nominated “Damages”. She recently appeared in “Mrs. America” miniseries and Apple TV series “Physical” and “Platonic.” She also secured a Tony nomination for her performance in Noël Coward’s “Fallen Angels.”
Ortega, known for her role in Netflix’s “Wednesday”, boasts of an impressive portfolio with the “Scream” series, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," and the upcoming “Klara and the Sun” which is an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel directed by Taika Waititi.
