Jordan in a dual role as the Smokestack twins, takes place in the southern part of the United States in the early 1930s. The narrative follows the twins in their Mississippi hometown as they gather a team of musicians for a dance event in a juke joint. Events take an eerie shift when vampire hunters plot to disturb the evening of community unity and Black pride. The film won rave reviews for Coogler's exceptional direction, Jordan's powerful double performance, and the dynamic soundtrack.
The cast also boasts of noteworthy performances by Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, and Jayme Lawson. Autumn Durald Arkapaw, known for her previous work on “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” took on the role of cinematographer for "Sinners," making history by shooting the film on 70mm Imax film.

In its second weekend, "Sinners" secured a respectable $45 million domestically. A meager 6% drop from its opening weekend earnings. To this day, the film has realized more than $360 million, far surpassing its reported $90 million production budget. Variety‘s Owen Gleiberman referred to the film as a "lavishly serious popcorn movie", praising it for its soulful take on significant themes revolving around sin in Black America.
With the movie's impressive pecuniary performance, Variety‘s Clayton Davis tagged it "the first Oscar Movie of 2025". This follows the pattern of Coogler's previous projects "Black Panther" and "Creed" which received Oscar nominations.
