The podcast industry is bustling with diverse voices from across the world, providing opinions on seemingly every topic. Among these many voices, Alex Cooper has set herself apart with her highly popular show, “Call Her Daddy.” Launched in 2018, in partnership with Barstool Sports, the sex and dating podcast quickly ascended to be the leading podcast among women worldwide. The successful 30-year-old's story is now being told in a two-part Hulu docuseries, “Call Her Alex,” directed by the award-nominated Ry Russo-Young, premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The documentary starts off in 2023, capturing the journey of Cooper and her team as they plan for her premiere live tour, “The Unwell Tour.” The series interweaves tour preparations, performances, and clips from Cooper’s upbringing, shedding light on her beginnings and her growth into a voice for zillennial women. It navigates her past, depicting her experiences with bullying due to her waifish physique and red hair, and her formative experiences storytelling, inspired by her father, a game producer for their local hockey league.

A momentous highlight of Part 1 is Cooper's recount of her senior year at Boston University, where after accusing her soccer coach of sexual harassment, she was sidelined. The docuseries details the emotional roller coaster she underwent during that period.
