- Jul 18, 2025

A dedicated documentary on rapper Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers and Slim Shady, is set to have a limited release in AMC Theaters from August 7 to August 10. The documentary, titled "Stans," draws its name from Eminem's hit song about a fanatical, unhinged admirer, inviting viewers to understand Eminem's career from the perspective of his earnest followers. The term "stan," symbolizing an infatuated fan, has been widely accepted in pop culture since the release of the song in 2000, even making its way into the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.

AMC Theatres Distribution is responsible for the movie’s rollout across over 135 AMC locations in the U.S, with at least two daily showtimes at each location. However, due to the limited run of the film, it will not be accessible for AMC Stubs A-List reservations or discount tickets. The documentary will also be screened for a full week in New York’s AMC Empire 25, allowing for awards qualification.

Additionally, "Stans" will be released internationally by Trafalgar Releasing on the same date, with an estimated 1,600 cinemas across 50 territories set to air the film. The documentary is directed by Steven Leckart and delves into the complex correlation between Eminem's reserved personal identity and his overwhelming public image. It makes use of reenactments, historical footage, and fresh interviews to shed light on the rap icon’s career highs and lows. Eminem, the 15-time Grammy winner for acclaimed tracks like "Lose Yourself," "Without Me," "Stan," "Real Slim Shady," and "Love the Way You Lie," also served as a producer for "Stans," alongside Paul Rosenberg, Stuart Parr, Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, and David Schiff.
