Nelly has revealed what Taylor Swift once paid him to sing one song at her concert: $50,000 in cash, handed over in a McDonald's bag.

And the bag was his idea.

The phone call

Nelly told the story on The Breakfast Club this week, sitting next to his wife, Ashanti.

Swift wanted him to perform Hot in Herre at her shows in Houston, during her Speak Now tour in 2011, E! News reported.

"She said, 'I got two shows in Houston, tomorrow and the next day. Can you come down to Houston and just perform it,'" Nelly recalled, according to Entertainment Now.

Swift told him she didn't really have a budget for it. Then she made her offer.

I will send my plane. I will get your room and all of that.

Her budget was $50,000. Nelly had one request.

"Can you put that in a McDonald's bag?" he asked, E! News reported.

She did.

Swift kept every promise. "Sent the G5, not 4, 5. Sent the 5, picked up me and the kids flew us down to Houston," Nelly said.

She also booked him a presidential suite. He never used it.

"We never saw the room," he said. After the show, he and his family went straight back to the airport, E! News reported.

He never even saw her routine before he walked on stage, E! News reported. He flew in with his kids, collected the bag and did the song.

One song, one flight, one paper bag. Not a bad night's work for a track that tells everyone to take off all their clothes.

It clearly went well. Four years later, Swift brought Nelly out again, this time in his hometown of St. Louis on her 1989 World Tour.

Why he's telling it now

Nelly and Ashanti were on the show to promote the second season of their Peacock reality series, Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together.

Swift has not commented on the story.

But it may be the most expensive McDonald's order in pop history.
