Living together in La Condesa, a hipster neighborhood in Mexico City, actress Nadia, musician Martín along with a little dog that followed him home, is the setting for Amsterdam.
You get the sense that Martín and Nadia had been growing apart due to their careers. Martín finds himself attracted to an old friend, Marina. Later he becomes attracted to the vet, Laura, who saw Amsterdam after he was found.
Nadia shares a kiss with three potential costars for an ad she is auditioning for. This is a feeling of impending doom for the couple. That is until the little dog, soon-to-be, “Amsterdam”, after the street he was found on, brings the couple closer together.
At first glance, ‘Amsterdam’ seems to be about how a couple, each with wandering eyes, is drawn back together. But, in reality, the series is a classic story of a couple navigating through their lives together.
Amsterdam gives the audience a new look at Mexico City. The creative, hipster neighborhood offers viewers a side not many have seen much of along with a story that most people are very familiar with. It is definitely worth a viewing, especially if the artistic lifestyle is particularly appealing.
