Exciting New Line Up of Films Announced by Disney for 2028 and Beyond
- Aug 20, 2026
Disney has confirmed a release date for Ryan Gosling's "Ghost Rider," marking its spot for July 28, 2028-making it the third Marvel Studios film slated for that year. This announcement, along with numerous other release dates, followed the fan-favourite event D23 that occurred this past weekend. Gosling's participation in the film was first declared at Comic-Con in July.
In addition to "Ghost Rider," another notable inclusion is "Black Panther 3," scheduled for a Dec. 15, 2028 release, and a still-unnamed "X-Men" film set to hit the screens on May 5, 2028. A mystery Marvel film has also been penciled in for Nov. 9, 2029-a project once known only as an untitled Disney movie.
The upcoming "Ghost Rider" flick features the talents of Shawn Levy in the directorial seat, and Jonathan Tropper, famously known for "Star Wars: Starfighter," in the writer's room. The movie sees Gosling step into the role of the fiery antihero, succeeding Nicholas Cage, who previously portrayed the character in two movies for Sony.
Striding into 2028 is Pixar's "Ghost Market," set to release on March 10. The film, drawing inspiration from Asian folklore, explores the fascinating stories of markets serving as interaction hubs between the living and the dead. It was originally intended as a streaming series but transitioned to a cinema-release format.

"Coco 2," scheduled for Nov. 21, 2029, gave fans a glimpse of the protagonist Miguel, now in his teenage years, at the D23 event. Benjamin Bratt returns for the sequel, reprising his role as Ernesto de la Cruz.
Another 2028 highlight includes a live-action remake of the cherished animated film "Tangled," mapping its release for March 31. "Clay," another anticipated animation, is lined up for Nov. 22, 2028.
Further, the release date for Searchlight's horror flick "Monitor" has been advanced to April 16, 2027, from its previous April 30 spot. This eerie narrative of a malevolent entity hunting down message board moderators is the work of filmmakers Matt Black and Ryan Polly.
