Hocus Pocus 2 Trailer: Recap & Review

In advance of its September 30th release, Disney+ has made the eagerly awaited Hocus Pocus 2 trailer available. The legacy sequel to 1993’s Hocus Pocus releases this fall, and fans can’t wait to watch Disney’s latest reimagining of a cherished classic.

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy play the Sanderson sisters in the original Halloween-themed comedy.

In the sequel, which takes place nearly three decades later, the three actors will reprise their roles as the child-hungry sisters who terrorize a fresh group of children in a contemporary context. The movie will also go back in time, with flashbacks showing where the sisters came from.

The teaser delivers an intriguing first look at several franchise newcomers, such as Whitney Peak, and includes a brief Ted Lasso reunion with Hannah Waddingham and Sam Richardson.

One of the most memorable scenes from the teaser shows the Sanderson sisters, whose quest to live forever is at the center of the plot, perusing the Walgreens cosmetics section and even removing a face mask from its package.

Additionally, the trailer shows Billy Butcherson’s comeback in a scene that fits the movie’s eerie tone. The genesis tale of the Sanderson sisters will probably fascinate fans the most, and based on the moving flashback sequences in the teaser, the film will not disappoint.

Although Hocus Pocus 2 was released nearly thirty years after the first, a sequel may not be far off given that director Anne Fletcher has hinted that the movie’s ending might pave the way for another film if all of the actors want to return. Of course, there is always the possibility of a return to a cosmos as expansive as the one imagined in Hocus Pocus.
