Movies Coming to Theatres this May 2023

2023 is going to be a huge year at the movies. For fans of costumed crimefighters, interstellar odyssey and old-school action serials many great forthcoming movies are on the way. Although those kinds of tales are common, they particularly apply to the films that are coming out this year.

Of course, there are impending horror films as well as upcoming superhero movies to look forward to. Let’s look over every new movie release for 2023 that has confirmation.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – May 5

The highly-anticipated final chapter in the Guardians of the Galaxy series will finally be hitting theaters in May. The film will be saying goodbye to James Gunn’s time in the MCU with the Guardians. This promises to be an emotional ride. Still dealing with losing Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his crew together to defend the universe and each other one last time. Any failure could lead to the loss of the Guardians as the world knows them. With the major Guardians of the Galaxy players coming back for the final romp, this movie is sure to be a classic Guardians combination of fun, heartfelt, and wacky.

Knights of the Zodiac – May 12

Seiya, a brazen street orphan, must use his abilities when a goddess of war is reincarnated as a little girl. As a result, he discovers that he is the only one who can protect the child and save the world. He must confront his past and become a Knight of the Zodiac in order to accomplish this. Mackenyu, Madison Iseman, and Sean Bean feature in this live-action adaptation of the Saint Seiya manga and anime by Masami Kurumada.

Hypnotic – May 12

Ben Affleck and Robert Rodriguez star in the new film Hypnotic. Detective Danny Rourke discovers that his missing daughter might be linked to a string of high-profile bank robberies. The film follows Detective Rourke as he embarks on an epic journey to both find his daughter and stop the secret government agency that is really responsible for everything. Dayo Okeniyi, J.D. Pardo, and Alice Braga are also featured in the cast.

Fast X – May 19

With the release of Fast X, it appears that the venerable Fast and Furious series is coming to an end. Dom Turetto and his family have always been able to outrun any obstacle in their path on their missions over the years. But now they are up against the deadliest foe they have ever encountered. Dom’s world and everyone he cares about are under attack from a menace who is driven by retaliation and rises from the shadows. Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa, Alan Ritchson, Rita Moreno, Michelle Rodriguez, and Brie Larson are just a few of the A-list actors in the cast.

The Little Mermaid – May 26

The Little Mermaid, the most recent of Disney’s attempts at live-action remakes of its classic films, stars Halle Bailey. It is a fresh iteration of the curious mermaid Ariel who desires to experience life above the surface (among humans). She ultimately strikes a bargain with the sea witch Ursula to travel to the land where she meets the handsome Prince Eric in exchange for a fee. Javier Bardem plays King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy plays Ursula in the ensemble.
