In the opening flashback scene of episode 5, The Race Card, Johnny Cochran drives his children to a luxurious neighborhood to eat lunch.
The girls want to try to bargain with their father over who gets to sit up front, a sign that this is a father whose daughters are taught to use their own words to get what they desire from the world.
Things turn ugly when a white police officer on a motorcycle pulls him over for reckless driving.
As the hours go by, Johnny remains as calm as possible while his daughters watch, horrified, as the cop handcuffs the lawyer until Cochran begs him to look up who he is before it is too late.

We are shown how Cochran can get an almost all-black jury back in the present day. Cochran is shown removing images of OJ with his white friends and his attractive white girlfriend.
He uses images of OJ with his mom and his family, which is a clever tactic to get the jury to sympathize more with OJ.

Race is always a hot topic that I am tired of hearing, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that it is an all too real occurrence.
The “Race card” shows how both (and all races) use their race to get away with certain things in society.
This was a 4 out of 5. Much better than the previous episode.
