The Dropout Episode 6 Recap

Here’s a recap of Episode 6 of The Dropout on Hulu.

The Dropout Movie Poster

The sixth episode of Dropout kicks off in October of 2013. Walgreens is using The Edison wellness centers without knowing of its flaws.

What Happened?

Richard is intent on eliminating Elizabeth, becoming a complete obsession to the point that it ruins his marriage. The New York Times’ John Carreyrou is instructed by Richard to investigate Theranos. Carreyrou says Richard needs a shred of better evidence, a better source.

Erika begins as an intern at Theranos. When she got to the lab, Erika had partnered up with Tyler, and she instantly recognized the intimidating and unwelcome environment.

It seems the world is celebrating Elizabeth as a feminist icon. She gives a public interview at Stanford, where she discusses how a female professor did not have faith in her.

Erika Cheung’s Role

Erika goes about her work, but the sad nature of The Edisons confuses her. Tyler teaches her that a secret laboratory is at Normandy, where their technology is genuine, and they test.

Her suspicion peaks when Mark’s new lab head asks her to cherry-pick data that fulfill his demands. People are vague and insistent about eliminating outliers, aka data points that don’t meet their needs.

Episode Review

Erika Cheung’s and Tyler Schultz’s storyline is just one of the show’s most exciting stories. Unfortunately, while bringing it closer to us, the slide shows even more characters to keep track of (perhaps indicating that the Holmes Theranos scandal is not the most adaptable story).

The Dropout dramatizes Elizabeth’s rise in a male-dominated field. Many held her as having become a shining example of female entrepreneurship, and for many others, she has become a feminist idol because of her success.
