The Girl from Plainville Episode 1 Recap

Here’s a recap of episode 1 of The Girl from Plainville, on Hulu.

The Girl from Plainville

Male abuse is an issue that is rarely ever discussed, let alone explored in any medium. And when it comes to male depression, it is near non-existent. Because we all know men don’t have feelings (sarcasm).

The show “A Girl from Plainville” explores how toxic texting and depression can lead to people committing suicide.

Premise

Episode 1 of The Girl from Plainville begins with text-based exchanges between Michelle and Conrad.

They’re typically lovely timeless teenage messages of love. But deeper insight suggests that gruesome deaths allude to the story of “Romeo and Juliet.”

It takes place in July 2014 in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. We are introduced to a police officer who arrives at Lynn Roy’s residence.

Lynn has reported her son, Conrad, as missing. They soon locate the young man’s car in the parking lot of a Kmart, chock-full with carbon monoxide, and Conrad inside, dead by suicide.

Distraught by the news, Lynn goes up to Conrad’s room. She finds a note he left to Michelle and one she wrote for her father.

Watch It Or Not

If Hulu is looking to tug at its viewer’s heartstrings, they have done it because this is an all too real event with far too many teens these days.

This is a watch if you have the emotional strength to view it because, as mentioned, this is something that goes on far too often.
