The Lincoln Lawyer – Season 1 – Episode 5 Recap

In The Lincoln Lawyer, episode 5, Mickey tries to convince his client to hire a jury consultant, but he’s not having it. Why?

Lincoln Lawyer

The episode starts with Mick and Trevor holding a client meeting at Pink’s, where Mick advises Trevor on the importance of hiring a jury consultant. Trevor thinks it is a bad idea and dismisses it. Despite Trevor’s stand, Mick requests his old friend (not named) to prepare a jury for him, to which she agrees if it is only for a day. This episode also gives the viewer a glimpse of the Jesus Menendez case, where Lorna holds a file that may be over a year old. During the case against Trevor, he insists on signing off jurors based on his instincts, a decision that does not favor Mick’s success probability.

The unnamed jury consultant tries to signal Mick to keep some jurors, but they are dismissed from the jury. Mick even tries some theatrics to show how humble and polite Trevor is. Mick has placed a star on juror five stick note, which plays to his advantage since the juror is dismissed as the judge thought Mick liked her for the jury. Elsewhere, Cisco, Mick’s private eye, tracks down Jan’s affairs, to which Jan reacts by talking to her ex-husband to confront Cisco. The ex-husband intimidates Cisco and even threatens him by brandishing his gun.

In the end, the jury is set, but Mick has to dismiss juror ten, whom Trevor has been stalking in the parking lot. Mick’s jury consultant tells him about Trevor’s, and later on, Mick visits Maggie. Maggie asks Mick to represent a woman who Soto uses in money laundry in court. Detective Griggs tells Mick that Jerry took out 150,000 USD to buy a boat but was killed the same day. The boat cannot be found, and Griggs wonders if the money was possibly used for bribery.
