The Lincoln Lawyer – Season1 Episode 2 Recap

Check out our recap of season one, episode two of the Netflix courtroom thriller series, The Lincoln Lawyer.

Lincoln Lawyer

Defense attorney Mickey Haller works his own cases. Terrell Coleman is accused of pushing a police officer. However, Terrell stole the police officer’s girlfriend in high school. When Terrell mentions the girl to the officer, the officer shoves Terrell. Terrell admits that he did sell bootleg USC merchandise. The officer’s body camera wasn’t working, so Mickey holds up a flash drive and mentions the ATM security camera across the street. The prosecutor and the officer free Terrell of the charges. Mickey then admits to Terrell that the flash drive contains only music.

Mickey has also inherited the case of tech magnate Trevor Elliot. Trevor is accused of murdering his wife Lara and her lover, Jan Rilz. Jan is the co-owner of a yoga studio and had affairs with other married women among his students.

However, Jerry’s case file offers little to go on. The copy machine in Jerry’s office reveals that the last document printed was a motion for a continuance that was never filed. Jerry’s assistant remembers that Jerry had found a “magic bullet” which must be on the stolen laptop along with the continuance. Mickey tries to convince Trevor to file for a continuance, but Trevor fears that the sale of his tech company will fall through if there is a delay.

Meanwhile, Mickey learns that Jerry was behaving nervously before his murder. Now, Mickey’s Lincoln has been followed by a black SUV. He’s also seen a black SUV parked across the street from his home. Mickey gets permission to turn over to the LAPD the names of clients who threatened Jerry.

The episode ends by showing a bug in Mickey’s Lincoln, the black SUV sitting in a parking garage, and someone sitting in the SUV typing on a laptop while listening to surveillance equipment.
