The frantic casting search for the new 007 has officially begun with Amazon MGM Studios at the forefront. Renowned for her work on big franchises, Nina Gold has been enlisted to find the new face of the suave, dangerous superspy James Bond, as Daniel Craig exits the iconic role created by Ian Fleming.

Amazon MGM Studios' statement confirms, “The search for the next James Bond is underway." Although no specific details are being shared during the casting process, the studio promises updates for Bond fans soon.

Gold, the casting director for the 26th film in the Bond franchise, is recognized for her work in series such as HBO’s “Game of Thrones" and Netflix's "The Crown." Her prowess in casting spans five movies in the Star Wars franchise, including casting Daisy Ridley as Rey in “The Force Awakens." She is also credited for her work on "Les Misérables," “The Martian,” and “Conclave.” Gold was a nominee for an Oscar for her work on “Hamnet” in 2025, a maiden year for the academy's casting awards.

The Quest for the New James Bond Begins

Previously, the role of Bond was filled by Debbie McWilliams, who served as casting director for "The Living Daylights," "Goldeneye," and "Casino Royale," instrumental in casting Bond portrayers Craig, Pierce Brosnan, and Timothy Dalton. Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and George Lazenby are among the other honored bearers of Bond’s license to kill.

Denis Villeneuve, the acclaimed filmmaker behind “Dune,” “Arrival," and “Sicario,” is directing the upcoming Bond feature. Hollywood powerhouses Amy Pascal (the “Spider-Man” films) and David Heyman (the “Harry Potter” series) are producing the movie, with a script from "Peaky Blinders" creator Steven Knight. Tanya Lapointe (“Dune”) serves as executive producer.

Rumors are already swirling as to who will inherit Bond's famous Walther PPK, with Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson being some potential contenders. At the recent CinemaCon, Amazon MGM's head of film, Courtenay Valenti, assured fans that the next Bond chapter was being handled with care and deep respect, indicating that the film is on its way and promising more information when the time is right.
