Tribeca Festival's 25th Anniversary Celebrated with Star-Studded Premieres
- Jun 13, 2026
This year, the Tribeca Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary. Initially conceived by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff to stimulate the lower Manhattan economy following the 9/11 attacks, the festival has grown into a significant cultural observation, including world cinema premieres and TV shows such as "The Avengers" and "The Handmaid's Tale," live podcasts, musical performances, anniversary screenings, and industry discussions.
The festival, which will take place from June 3-14 in New York City, is showcasing a wide array of films from award-winning and first-time directors. Premieres should keep an eye out for stars like Aubrey Plaza, Oscar Isaac, Will Ferrell, and Alicia Vikander.

This year's opening night film is the eagerly awaited "Summer of Soul" by Questlove, with a focus on the iconic Earth, Wind & Fire and interviews with influential personalities like Barack and Michelle Obama, Flea, and Lionel Richie. Comedian Zach Woods' directorial debut centres on a child welfare case in a family drama.
Other exciting films include a psychological thriller featuring Netflix's "The Night Agent" Gabriel Basso, a film from Julian Schnabel with Oscar Isaac portraying poet Dante Alighieri, and a documentary by Josh Greenbaum about how SNL comedy legends influenced political opinion. A four-part documentary series about Burning Man by Jehane Noujaim and Vikram Gandhi is also premiering, as well as a contemporary adaptation of Virginia Woolf's "Mrs Dalloway," directed by Rachel Rose and starring Oscar winner Alicia Vikander.
