Unveiling "The Uprising": New Historic Drama Starring Andrew Garfield

Focus Features has launched the trailer for the historical drama "The Uprising" headlined by Andrew Garfield. According to the movie's logline, Garfield portrays the epoch-making leader who ignites a vehement uprising against the oppressive rule of King Richard II. The story unfolds against the backdrop of post-Black Plague England, when the king was imposing harsh taxes on his subjects to finance the Hundred Years’ War. Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Woody Norman, Katherine Waterston, and Sky Yang round off the impressive cast.

"The Uprising" is the creative work of "Jason Bourne" filmmaker Paul Greengrass, who played multiple roles as the writer, director, and a producer. Other producers include Jason Blum, Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, Joe Neurauter, and Lars Sylvest.

Garfield, celebrated with two Oscar nominations, recently shared the screen with Claire Foy in the fantasy movie "The Magic Faraway Tree," already available in the U.K and due for a U.S. release on Aug. 21. Other recent roles feature in "After the Hunt," "We Live in Time," "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "tick, tick.. BOOM!" and "The Eyes of Tammy Faye."

Greengrass' latest venture prior to this was the disaster thriller "The Lost Bus," featuring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. His directorial portfolio also boasts titles such as "News of the World," "22 July," "Green Zone," "Captain Phillips" and "United 93," for which he landed a best directing Oscar nomination.
