Who is Ready for a Cool Gamer-Inspired Mask?

Check out this high-tech face mask concept from Razer.

Project Hazel

In our coverage of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year, we actually missed one pretty cool product. (OK, we definitely missed talking about tons of cool products, since there were literally thousands to cover and we only highlighted ones that jumped out at us.) But, one in particular that we didn’t spot during the show was an initiative to create a high-tech and ‘cool’ face mask.

Project Hazel

Gaming product company Razer debuted its concept for the Project Hazel N95 face mask at CES this year. This was way back before the first vaccines had been given the green light for emergency use in the U.S.

As someone who has tested and purchases 30+ different styles of face masks, I’m very familiar with all the pros and cons. Project Hazel is definitely an attempt to address some of the annoying challenges of wearing a standard cloth face mask, while adding a definite ‘cool factor’ into the equation.

What’s Cool About it?

Project Hazel is not a cloth mask. It is a high-tech mask, featuring a transparent face shield, silicone around the edges for a tight seal, and some pretty slick tech features.

  • Active Ventilation – with replaceable filters and rechargeable ventilators that can be adjusted to change the amount of airflow.
  • Audio Processing – built-in audio processing algorithms help make your voice more clear and natural
  • Autosertilization – with a separate case that can charge it wirelessly and includes a UV sterilizer.
  • LED Lighting – to help make your mouth visible in low light.

Razer has not announced any specific dates for the product’s release, but stay tuned.
